DUNLOP SET FAST PLUS FLEXIBLE TILE ADHESIVE is a rapid-setting powder-based tile adhesive. Mixed with water, it
is suitable for fixing floor and wall tiles including porcelain, fully vitrified, mosaics, quarry, brick slips and stone claddings.
Suitable for interior and exterior areas including patios. Tiles can be grouted 3 hours after fixing. The set adhesive is frost
and water-resistant and can be used in showers, or under continuous immersion such as swimming pools.
This product is available in 20kg.
DUNLOP SET FAST PLUS FLEXIBLE TILE ADHESIVE exceeds the requirements of EN12004:2007 for a C2FT tile
adhesive
PREPARATION
The surface to be tiled should be level, clean and free from dust, grease or any loose flaking material.
Allow new walls to dry out for minimum 6 weeks before rendering/plastering/tiling. Direct fixing of tiles to clay brick/medium
density concrete is acceptable if surface is sufficiently flat.
Suitable surfaces include:
Existing glazed ceramic tiles/glazed bricks - Ensure existing tiles/bricks are soundly bonded to a stable background that is sufficiently strong to support the weight of the
new tiling. Mix DUNLOP SET FAST PLUS FLEXIBLE TILE ADHESIVE with DUNLOP FLEXIBLE ADDITIVE (diluted 1:1 by
volume with water) If areas of tiles/bricks are loose or hollow-sounding, remove and make good.
Plaster -
Must be at least 4 weeks old before tiling. Ensure finish coat has been applied, and surface is free from dust, efflorescence
and friable material. If plaster is shiny or polished, brush thoroughly before priming with DUNLOP SBR UNIVERSAL
BONDING AGENT (diluted 1:2 by volume with water) and allow primer to dry.
If plaster is defective/badly cracked, cut back to straight vertical or horizontal edges. Dry brush the background and make
good with a suitable non-shrinking filler and prime as above.
Plasterboard - Ensure boards are securely fixed and rigid at 300mm centres vertically and horizontally or as per
board manufacturer’s recommendations with no protruding fixings. Ensure the face intended to receive decorative
finish is exposed.
Asphalt (suitable grade e.g. flooring)
Must be of a suitable grade, be clean, in sound condition (without brittleness, softening. etc.) and have adequate
cohesive strength, a natural float finish and laid on a firm rigid base. Ensure that surface is sufficiently regular to suit
bedding depths of adhesive. Clean thoroughly to remove surface dirt using warm water and a suitable detergent.
Remove all detergent residues with clean
water.
Concrete; cement: sand screeds and rendering - Before tiling, allow the following minimum drying times:
1. Concrete/concrete block walls/clay brickwork: 6 weeks
2. Cement:sand screed: 3 weeks
3. Cement:sand rendering: 2 weeks (3 weeks for swimming pools)
Existing unglazed ceramic tiles, quarry tiles, terrazzo and natural stone - Ensure existing tiles are soundly bonded to a stable background that is sufficiently strong support the weight of the new
tiling. If areas are loose or hollow-sounding, cut out and make good
Fibre reinforced cement boards and lightweight tile backing boards for floors
Check suitability with board manufacturer. Ensure boards are (i) sufficiently rigid and stable to receive tiles; (ii) can
carry the additional load without excessive deflection; and (iii) has adequate ventilation under the boards.
Overlaid timber floors (min. 15mm)
Ensure timber floor (i) is sufficiently rigid and stable to receive tiles; (ii) can carry the additional load without excessive
deflection; and (iii) has adequate ventilation under the timber. Overlay existing timber floor with water resistant
plywood, minimum. 15mm thick, screwed (not nailed) at 300mm centres. Prime all timber surfaces on back face and
edges and the face to be tiled with neat
DUNLOP SBR UNIVERSAL BONDING AGENT. Allow to dry.
Existing vinyl tiles - Ensure these are in good sound condition and securely bonded to their base. Remove loose or
damaged tiles/areas of sheet along with any loose or soft adhesive. Remove any polishes, wax, grease etc. with a
suitable proprietary cleaner. Prime with 2 coats of undiluted DUNLOP SBR
UNIVERSAL BONDING AGENT
NOTE: Cushioned types of flooring are not suitable and must be completely removed along with the adhesive
residue prior to tiling.
Underfloor heating: - once the screed is dry it must be heated slowly at a rate not exceeding 5°C per 24 hours to the
maximum operating temperature or 25°C and maintained at that level for 3 days, before being allowed to cool to
room temperature. The heating must be turned off before tiling. Once completed ensure that a minimum of 14 days
have elapsed before the floor is brought back to its operating temperature at a maximum rate of 5°C per day.

MIXING
Mix in the ratio of approx. 3 parts powder to 1 part water by volume. Add the powder to clean water and mix thoroughly until
a smooth uniform consistency is obtained. Use within 45 minutes of mixing (at room temperature). Do not use below 5°C.
APPLICATION
1. Spread the adhesive with a suitable notched trowel to cover approximately 1m2 or an area that can be tiled in 15-20
minutes working time.
2. For floor tiling, wet areas and exterior situations, a solid-bed trowel must be used.
3. Press the dry tiles firmly into the adhesive, checking periodically that good contact is maintained with the backs of
the tiles. Tiles should be fixed within approx. 15-20 minutes of adhesive being applied, depending on the porosity of
the surface and the atmospheric conditions (check the adhesive ribs periodically and if a skin has formed, remove
the adhesive and apply a new layer). Tiles can be adjusted up to 10 minutes after initial positioning.
4. Leave 1-2mm joints between wall tiles and minimum 3mm joints between floor tiles.
5. Remove all surplus adhesive with a damp cloth before it sets.
NOTE
DUNLOP SET FAST PLUS FLEXIBLE TILE ADHESIVE is fully resistant to water, however, being cement-based it is not
impervious to the passage of water. To improve protection on water- sensitive backgrounds, apply a tanking
membrane such as DUNLOP SHOWER WATERPROOFING KIT to the background or use an impervious grout in
the joint between tiles
GROUTING
Grouting can be carried out after a minimum of 3 hours.

COVERAGE - Depends on the nature and flatness of the surface and the method of application, but on a level
background the approx.. amount of adhesive required will be: approx. 2kg/m2 for dry wall areas. approx. 4kg/m2 for
floors, exterior and wet areas.
